Miniature dapple dachshund puppies for sale
Miniature dapple dachshund puppies for sale have long wiener-shaped bodies and short legs. They’re literally half as high as they are long!
They have big floppy ears, long noses, a deep muscular chest, and a tail that curves gently upwards.
Smooth-Haired Dachshunds have short, smooth, glossy hair. Whereas Wire-Haired Dachshunds have coarse wiry hair, and Long-Haired Dachshunds have long silky hair.
Smooth-Haired Dachshunds are often given the nickname ‘wiener dogs’ or ‘sausage dogs’ because of their elongated and almost comical appearance.
Their short stature and long spine make them instantly recognizable and unlike any other type of dog breed.
Dachshunds can learn quickly if properly motivated. Use positive reinforcements such as food rewards or a favorite toy to hold their attention, and keep training sessions short. The Dachshund will quickly become bored if made to repeat the same exercise over and over, so make obedience practice fun and interesting.
Housetraining can sometimes be a problem with this breed. A Dachshund may not see the need for eliminating outside. Patience and consistency are musts. Crate training helps as well.
Smooth-Haired Dachshunds come in two different sizes. You can get Miniature Smooth-Haired Dachshunds and slightly larger Standard Smooth-Haired Dachshunds.
Miniature Smooth-Haired Dachshunds are usually around 13-18cm in height to their withers (this is the point right at the top of their shoulder blades). Standard Smooth-Haired Dachshunds are usually around 20-22cm in height to their withers.
This breed is one of the most vocal. They tend to bark at other dogs, fellow animals, and even strangers walking by.
If you just got a Dachshund puppy, don’t be fooled. It often takes 6 or 6 or 7 months for a Dachshund to vind their voice. But once they discover their bark, watch out!
This personality trait makes sense – they were bred to alert hunters to vermin like badgers and rabbits. Dachshunds are likely to bark every time they hear (even if you don’t) or see something that doesn’t seem right to them.
